Dialogo con l’antico. Gucci, dopo i parchi archeologici di Pompei, Ercolano, Selinunte delle collezioni pre-fall 2019, sfila a Roma, ai Musei Capitolini.
La collezione Cruise 2020 sarà il 28 maggio 2019 all’interno del museo, unico al mondo per l’importanza delle loro collezioni di antichità e per la storia secolare.
Ad annunciarlo è la stessa maison, insieme alla Città di Roma.
Il direttore creativo di Gucci, Alessandro Michele, ha scelto di continuare il suo dialogo con l’antico, attingendo questa volta ai luoghi romani della sua infanzia.
Situati sull’omonimo colle, i Musei Capitolini rappresentano, ricorda la griffe, un complesso museale unico al mondo.
Per l’importanza delle loro collezioni di antichità e per la storia secolare.
Nel corso dei prossimi due anni, Gucci contribuirà al progetto di recupero della celebre Rupe Tarpea.
La parete rocciosa posta sul lato meridionale del Campidoglio, dalla quale fino al I secolo d.C. venivano gettati nel sottostante Foro Romano i traditori della Patria condannati a morte.
E che in tal modo venivano simbolicamente espulsi dall’Urbe.
Oggi la rupe, costituita prevalentemente di tufo, scolpita e scavata nel corso dei secoli, rappresenta uno spazio naturale unico nel suo genere.
La scelta dei Musei Capitolini segue quella delle precedenti sfilate Cruise, che si sono svolte in luoghi altrettanto significativi. La Dia-Art Foundation a New York, i chiostri dell’Abbazia di Westminster a Londra, la Galleria Palatina di Palazzo Pitti a Firenze e l’antico sito degli Alyscamps ad Arles.
Presentando la collezione in questi scenari, Gucci “intende promuovere e valorizzare un patrimonio artistico unico al mondo”.
