Gucci, la nuova sede dell’archivio a Palazzo Settimanni
Guardare al proprio passato per proiettarsi verso il futuro. Gucci ha aperto la nuova sede del proprio archivio in via delle Caldaie a Firenze, 2.800 mq all’interno dello storico Palazzo Settimanni, un’altra tappa celebrativa per i 100 anni della maison di proprietà del gruppo Kering. Risalente al 1400, il palazzo accoglieva originariamente le attività artigianali e artistiche che già nel secolo successivo, in seguito al trasferimento a Palazzo Pitti della famiglia dei Medici, affiancarono residenze di famiglie aristocratiche. Acquisito da Gucci nel 1953, è stato fabbrica, laboratorio e showroom.
Il ripristino è stato voluto e ideato dal direttore creativo Alessandro Michele: “Palazzo Settimanni, liberato dalle sovrapposizioni precedenti, si trasforma in un luogo magico a cui ho restituito porosità: ci si passa attraverso, entra l’aria, lo si può percorrere come fosse un viaggio. Io sono poroso, assorbente, permeabile”, spiega in una nota il designer. Sui cinque livelli di altezza, che comprendono il pianoterra e il piano interrato, sono state eliminate le sovrastrutture accumulate in momenti recenti, per rivelare tracce di decorazioni ottocentesche, trompe l’oeil del Settecento, affreschi del tardo Seicento, abbellimenti ancora anteriori. Tutto è stato progettato, disposto e disegnato con la stessa attenzione con cui è stata condotta l’intera operazione di riutilizzo del palazzo come sede delle collezioni storiche della maison, dagli arredi fino ai dettagli delle maniglie che riproducono un paio di forbici, dalle vetrine wunderkammer alle lampade, fino alle armadiature in legno e ai grandi armadi in ferro e vetro.
L’archivio è suddiviso in stanze tematiche, intitolate con le parole che appartengono al lessico di Michele; il piano interrato si divide nelle sale Radura (porcellane e oggetti per la casa), Herbarium (articoli da scrivania), Maison de L’Amour (oggetti per il tempo libero). Al piano terreno trovano spazio le collezioni di borsetteria vintage che comprendono modelli come Bamboo o Jackie (sala Hortus Deliciarum), la piccola pelletteria e le cinture vintage (sala Prato di Ganimede), la sala espositiva (sala Swan), la gioielleria vintage e contemporanea (sala Le Marché des Merveilles), la valigeria vintage (sala 1921 Rifondazione).
Le creazioni tessili, dai foulard agli abiti, oltre alle calzature, sono state archiviate al primo piano, dove lo spazio è ripartito in stanze dai nomi suggestivi come Orto di Giove, The Alchemist’s Garden, Serapis, Aveugle par Amour. Al secondo piano c’è invece la sala Façonnier des Rêves.
Palazzo Settimanni è anche la sede di Gucci Education, uno spazio che offre opportunità di formazione per i dipendenti del brand.
