Louis Vuitton ritira la sciarpa ispirata alla kefiah palestinese

Louis Vuitton ha ritirato una sciarpa dal valore di 705 dollari dai suoi scaffali virtuali dopo che il marchio di lusso è stato accusato di appropriarsi culturalmente di un capo di abbigliamento popolare nella cultura palestinese, la kefiah. A sollevare la questione è stato il blog Diet Prada, da sempre molto attento ai fenomeni che gravitano intorno agli ambienti modaioli.

Le accuse sui social hanno costretto la casa di moda a far scomparire la “Louis Vuitton Monogram Keffieh Stole”, descritta come prodotto «ispirato alla classica kefiah e arricchito con le firme della maison». La kefiah è un indumento popolare nel mondo arabo e, in alcuni ambienti, è visto come un simbolo del patriottismo palestinese.

Dopo l’ultimo capitolo del conflitto tra Israele e Palestina, Diet Prada ha messo in dubbio i tempi di commercializzazione del prodotto. «Quindi la posizione di Lvmh – la multinazionale proprietaria di più di una decina di grandi marchi della moda sulla politica è “neutrale”, ma stanno producendo una kefiah da 705 dollari con il logo blasonato, che è un tradizionale copricapo arabo, ed è diventato un simbolo del nazionalismo palestinese», ha scritto l’account ufficiale del blog in un post su Instagram.

«Il tempismo è orribile, le famiglie sono state spazzate via, centinaia di persone uccise, migliaia ferite in brutali violenze contro una popolazione prigioniera a Gaza», ha detto alla Nbc Nihad Awad, direttore esecutivo del Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). «La kefiah è molto vicina e cara ai nostri cuori come palestinesi e vederla qualcuno che se ne appropria è altamente offensivo, specialmente in questo periodo, nel tentativo di fare soldi».
