Borse, che passione. A Londra la mostra ”Bags: Inside Out”
C’è un accessorio, anche se definirlo così può sembrare riduttivo, che più di altri è imprescindibile nella routine di vita femminile e anche di molti uomini.
The bags.
All’accessorio per eccellenza è dedicata un’intera mostra, The Bags: Inside Out, una panoramica delle borse che hanno fatto la storia con un repertorio per tutti i gusti, gli usi e le stagioni.
Dopo il rinvio di primavera (l’apertura era prevista per il 25 aprile) la più grande mostra di sempre dedicata alle borse, “Bags: Inside Out”, riprova ad accogliere i visitatori: dal 21 novembre, al Victoria and Albert Museum di Londra.
300 borse, scelte in un anno e mezzo di lavoro. Dal ‘500 e arriva ai giorni nostri, celebrando, tra l’altro, il fenomeno delle It bags esploso a partire dagli anni 90, e puntando i riflettori su borse che hanno segnato la storia della moda. Come la Kelly di Hermès, omaggio a Grace Kelly, la Lady Dior, borsetta dedicata alla principessa Diana, e la mitica Baguette di Fendi, che in una famosa scena di Sex and the City viene rubata a Sarah Jessica Parker.

“The bags” hanno una funzione e servono a portare qualcosa: soldi, piccoli segreti femminili, documenti ma anche oggetti speciali. Come la sacca per la maschera antigas creata, durante la Seconda guerra mondiale, per la regina Mary.
Ma le borse non hanno solo un dité frivolo ed estetizzante.
A volte diventano manifesti politici a sostegno di una causa: la sacca con la scritta “I am not a plastic bag” disegnata da Anya Hindmarch, segna la nascita di una nuova cultura ecologista.
Sotto i riflettori londinesi non poteva mancare lo zaino, in plastica riciclata, pescata dai fondali marini, firmata da Stella McCartney, la stilista inglese super green.
Tra gli oggetti esposti più rari, troveremo la grande borsa ricamata utilizzata per proteggere la matrice d’argento del Grande Sigillo d’Inghilterra di Elisabetta I, una borsa per maschere antigas di proprietà di Sua Altezza Reale la Regina Maria durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, la scatola rossa per le spedizioni di Winston Churchill e una valigetta di Vivien Leigh.
Al centro della scena vi sarà anche un sorprendente baule Louis Vuitton dei primi del ‘900, un tempo appartenuto alla mondana americana Emilie Grigsby, che grazie a un ampio progetto di restauro e di ricerca è stato riportato in vita con le sue etichette, rivelando la storia dei suoi viaggi sui grandi transatlantici del mondo.
